NFL: Browns overtake Chiefs as most expensive offense in 2024

2024 NFL season, Browns overtaking Chiefs, most expensive offense, NFL salary cap, NFL team spending, Browns high payroll, Chiefs offensive cost

On the other side of the list is the Pittsburgh Steelers as the lowest-valued offense in the NFL.

Deshaun Watson is the highest-paid player on the Cleveland Browns.
At $188 million, the Cleveland Browns are the team with the most expensive offense in the NFL heading into the 2024 season, ahead of the two-time champion Kansas City Chiefs, worth $152.8 million.

A large part of that salary burden, $63.9 million, is on the salary of quarterback Deshaun Watson, who signed a five-year, $230 million guaranteed contract with the Browns in March of last year.

The data on the value of the offenses of the 32 teams in the league is from Jason Fitzgerald, founder of the OverTheCap.com site, a specialist in contract analysis, comparative evaluation of contracts, salary cap, consultant for several NFL teams and several sports agencies.

The offense of the two-time champion Kansas City Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, ranks number four among the most expensive offenses with $152.8 million.

Rounding out the top five on this list are Los Angeles Rams with quarterback Matthew Stafford and receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, with $178.1 million in second place.

The number three spot goes to the Dallas Cowboys, who in 2021 agreed to a four-year deal with Dak Prescott for $160 million and a few days ago restructured said contract that will allow the quarterback to earn $40 million more in 2025.

In fifth place for the most expensive attacks are the Denver Broncos, who carry part of the value of the $245 million contract they signed in 2022 with Russell Wilson, recently sent to the Steelers; a deal that will impact the offense with $39 million for this 2024, despite the fact that Wilson will no longer be on the team.

At the other end of the list are precisely the Pittsburgh Steelers with an attack of $64.8 million, the lowest value among the 32 teams in the league.

The Steelers obtained Russell Wilson in exchange for $1.2 million for the 2024 season, the minimum salary for a veteran quarterback.

The young Green Bay Packers offense, at $67.1 million, is the second to last least expensive, followed by that of the renewed Los Angeles Chargers, at $68.4 million.

The NFC champion San Francisco 49ers sit at No. 9 on this list with an offense valued at $138.5 million.
